GoogleDocs

Google Docs is a free, Web-based office suite, and data storage service offered by Google. It allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating with other users. Documents, spreadsheets, presentations, pictures, and forms (e.g. questionnaires) can be created with Google Docs and saved to a user's local computer in a variety of formats including odf, html, pdf, rtf, txt, doc. Documents are automatically saved to Google's servers, and a revision history is automatically kept so past edits may be viewed. It is also possible to organize documents into folders to help finding them later.

Documents can be shared with selected people or published online for anyone. The owner of the document can decide in detail whether each one of the other users is allowed to change or only view the document. Multiple persons can view and make changes at the same time. During simultaneous editing or viewing there's an on-screen chat window available for discussing the content being edited.

Google Docs is growing in popularity amongst businesses due to enhanced sharing features and accessibility. In addition, Google Docs has enjoyed a rapid rise in popularity among students and educational institutions due to its low cost (free of charge) and multiple useful features.

1 GB of storage is included for free for uploading user's files. Google Docs supports 15 file formats, including for example Microsoft Word (.doc and .docx), Microsoft Excel (.xls and .xlsx), Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt and .pptx), OpenDocument Format (.odt and .ods) and Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf). Also pictures and videos can be uploaded. Some file formats can be converted to enable further editing within Google Docs.
