Multicultural Society

Multicultural-Society - A society characterized by cultural pluralism. As an ideal, multi-culturalism celebrates cultural variety (for example linguistic and religious diversity), and may be contrasted with the assimilationist ideal assumed in many early studies of race, ethnicity, and immigration (GORDON MARSHALL. "multi-cultural society." A Dictionary of Sociology. 1998. Encyclopedia.com. (June 17, 2010). http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1O88-multiculturalsociety.html).
