Titanpad

TitanPad is a free web based online application that helps teams of people work on the same document simultaneously. With TitanPad anyone can instantly create a document for collaborative writing. A user id/account is not needed, but it is easy and quick to get started by clicking "create public pad", entering ones name, and start typing. Each pad will be given a unique URL which will allow more users to develop the same document. Other people can be invited to collaborate by sharing the web address of the pad. Every collaborator is given a unique color to make it clearly visible what are the changes made by particular user.

TitanPad allows users to undo any change they've made. It is possible to chat with the people one is working with making it easier to exchange ideas with each other. Once the work is done, the document can be exported in various formats such as DOC , HTML or PDF or plain text.

In education TitanPad can be used for example for arranging a quick online brainstorming session with students. As accounts aren't necessary any classroom time to getting students through a registration process will not be lost.

TitanPad is based on software called EtherPad which no longer exists. TitanPad is run by a team of IT professionals based in Austria. If demand is high enough, this operation will be formalized and backed by a non-profit association with the goal to provide a stable EtherPad host. The stored data will not be shared with any 3rd party except as required by Austrian & European law. Still, it is important to note that access to pads is possible for anyone who knows the URL, so users are adviced not to keep sensitive information in pads.
