WikiSpaces

Wikispaces is a popular tool for collaborative writing. It allows a group of people to create a shared document, to add text, audio files and video to the pages for immediate viewing online. Public wikis are open for anyone to read. Registration is needed for creating a wiki and editing content.

There are several pricing options with different features and conditions. The basic public wikis are free for anyone. K-12 and higher education professionals can create also private ad-free wikis free of charge. All wikis include a built-in discussion forum. Users get a subdomain on wikispaces.com.  The free version is supported by Google ads. There are no limits on numbers of pages, spaces, or members.

The content of the wiki can be downloaded (exported) and compressed as an html, wiki text or pdf file.

Every revision of each page is saved, so a user doesn't need to be concerned about losing former versions in case s/he has made some unintended edits. All the revisions can be found and reverted to in the history section.

Wikispaces is a hosting service based in San Francisco, California.
