Vimeo

Vimeo (www.vimeo.com) is a video-sharing website like YouTube, but Vimeo is dedicated exclusively to user-made videos. Registered users may upload and share their own videos with other users and decide the level of publicity. It is for example possible to share a video clip with a student group by giving them a link and a password. In this way sharing can be limited to only specific people.

There are several different ways how a user's videos can be organized in Vimeo. They can be added to albums, channels or groups which all have different features. Within a group specific users (for example students on a course) may not only watch videos but also share other files and discuss on a forum.

The basic account is free of charge and lets a user upload videos up to 500 megabytes a week. The limit for HD (high definiton) videos is one file per week. The number of albums, channels and groups is also limited.

Videos uploaded to Vimeo can be shared with students for example via a link or they can be embedded into another webpage.
