video sharing

Video is a powerful media to support teaching and learning in multiple ways. Video provides means to promote authentic learning (link) which is an essential element of intercultural learning. Video can be used to deliver clips of real-life interaction and communication situations for example for:

New media technology enables ordinary teachers and students to engage easily in small-scale video production. Shooting of video clips is possible with several different devices used by ordinary people: digital cameras, digital videocameras, mobile phones, tablet computers etc.  If necessary, simple editing of the clips can be done by software included in the the devices or available online free of charge. The edited clips can be uploaded to an online video repository for viewing.

Video sharing is one form of resource-sharing. Video clips made by teachers or students can be shared with other learners through  video sharing websites or communities like YouTube or Vimeo. As anyone may watch the videos shared publicly, these services may also be used for searching and accessing materials adequate for learning intercultural competence.
