Function
During the phase of Motivation emotional interest in the topic should be raised, as learning becomes more intense and easier when the learner is also emotionally involved in the topic.
Ways of achieving function
Usually Motivation and Activation are linked closely and sometimes do overlay. E.g. realizing that someone has knowledge gaps often goes hand in hand with the Motivation to close those gaps.
There are different ways to motivate learners:
